Startup in Residence
The Startup in Residence program in Amsterdam spans six months, inviting startups to tackle various challenges faced by municipal departments. Initiated by the municipality, the program aims to foster innovation within these departments, offering an outside-in perspective. Additionally, it potentially serves as the first customer for successful startups.
Aside from workshops and training sessions integral to the program, each startup is paired with a dedicated mentor. Across multiple program editions, I've served as a mentor for several startups. My role involved aiding these startups in diverse aspects of success, such as team dynamics, refining value propositions, fostering collaborations, structuring business models, identifying customer segments, managing leads, setting up pilots, and offering support on a personal level, including aspects like work-life balance.
The mentorship was positively received, and witnessing the energy and creativity of the participating startups was truly remarkable. The program concludes with all startups presenting their outcomes, sharing the challenges and successes encountered while collaborating with the municipality of Amsterdam.
