Journal Home Pages
This project aimed to redesign and redevelop Elsevier's Journal Home Pages (JHP) to help drive higher conversion to the submission flow. Our strategy centered on the author's experience, examining their journey through publication. We divided this journey into four phases: 1) research and writing, 2) pre-publishing, 3) the submission process, and 4) post-publishing. The JHP's focus was on guiding authors from the pre-publishing to the submission phase, assisting them in deciding whether to publish their article in the journal.
To craft an effective layout strategy, we analyzed the current content in relation to the author's journey. This analysis helped determine content grouping, placement prominence, and contextually linked information for each step. Recognizing the diversity among journals and authors, we adopted a dynamic, modular layout that caters to authors' needs by emphasizing the most relevant information for their decision-making process.
As the product owner, my responsibility was to maintain the project's core goal and strategic direction amidst a complex network of internal and external stakeholders, third parties, various source systems and strict security and performance requirements. Despite these challenges, we successfully launched the redesigned Journal Home Pages within six months.
