Facade

As part of my dual master-track program, one of my two master projects was dedicated to exploring generative design systems. Crafting my project proposal, I aimed to delve into the intricate relationship between a building's facade and its immediate environment.

The central objective was to develop a script capable of dynamically influencing the facade based on focal points and pathways within its surroundings. This scripting process aimed to mirror the impact of the environment on the configuration of the building's exterior. Utilizing a VBA Script within Autocad, diverse outcomes emerged based on varying inputs. These outcomes were manifested in two distinct alternatives:

The first alternative envisioned the facade as a sculptural entity in Eindhoven's market. Here, the ends of distinct support tubes doubled as LED lights, fostering an interactive engagement with passersby.

Conversely, the second alternative took an inverse approach, manifesting in concrete to serve as a facade for a canal house in Utrecht. This implementation created a captivating interplay of light and material.

An animated representation showcasing these two alternatives is available under the 'a' heading in the series located at the bottom-right corner of this page. Furthermore, a comprehensive report detailing this project can be accessed in the "Documents" section above.
