All Along the Watchtower

Watchtowers, despite their intriguing history, extensive geographical presence, and abundance in contemporary architecture, have been significantly underexplored and inadequately documented as a typological phenomenon. Recognizing this gap, our studio, comprising twelve students, embarked on an investigative seminar culminating in a publication and an exhibition to shed light on this subject.

Within the seminar, each student delved into the study of a specific watchtower, with my focus being on Passages designed by G. Kullberg. The outcome of this research included an enlightening interview with G. Kullberg, a 3D computer model, a compilation of photographic documentation, and a detailed maquette. Complementing these visual representations, we also crafted several concise essays, each delving into various facets of the watchtower phenomenon.

For a comprehensive view of our findings and insights, the publication encapsulating our collective research can be accessed in the "Documents" section.
